Tom jest wynikiem prac prowadzonych przede wszystkim w latach 60. i 70. XX wieku przez Zofię Stęszewską (1930-1999), kontynuowanych w XXI wieku przez Piotra Poźniaka (1939-2016). Zawiera ułożone, na ile to było możliwe, w porządku chronologicznym edycje 150 tańców z  31 europejskich tabulatur na instrumenty klawiszowe z okresu od 1583 do ok. 1725 roku, w tym 93 określonych w  źródłach w różnych językach jako "tańce polskie" (lub, wyjątkowo, w tabulaturach nie mających polskiej proweniencji tytułowanych po polsku) oraz 57 (opublikowanych w aneksie I) nie noszących takiego tytułu, ale z racji zbieżności melodycznych przez Zofię Stęszewską za "tańce polskie" uznanych. Ponadto wydano w nim (w aneksie II) "polskie" duety i trio zapisane notacją nutową w rękopisie Wasbohma. Edycja każdego pierwszego "tańca polskiego" z danej tabulatury poprzedzona jest reprodukcją odpowiedniej strony lub stron tego źródła. Tom obejmuje także opublikowane w języku polskim i angielskim wstęp od redakcji, autorstwa Piotra Poźniaka z uzupełnieniem Bartłomieja Gembickiego i Barbary Przybyszewskiej-Jarmińskiej, którzy prace redakcyjne dokończyli, wstęp Autorki edycji, wykaz skrótów, zawierający m.in. spis wykorzystanych źródeł i bibliografii, oraz komentarze krytyczne i 39 tablic nutowych z konkordancjami tańców.

This volume represents the results of the work carried out mainly during the 1960s and 70s by Zofia Stęszewska (1930-1999), and continued in the twenty-first century by Piotr Poźniak (1939-2016). It contains editions of 150 dances from 31 European tablatures for keyboard instruments from the period 1583 – ca. 1725. As far as possible they are presented in chronological order, and include 93 items described in the sources in various languages as „Polish dances” (or, exceptionally, given Polish titles in tablatures without Polish provenance), as well as 57 items (published in Appendix I) not carrying such a a title but identified as "Polish dances" by Zofia Stęszewska in view of their melodic convergences. The publication also includes (in Appendix II) „Polish” duets and trios given in music notation in Wasbohm’s manuscript. The edition of every first "Polish dance" from a given tablature is preceded by a reproduction of the appropriate page or pages from that source. There is also an editorial introduction by Piotr Poźniak with additional material by  Bartłomiej Gembicki and Barbara Przybyszewska-Jarmińska who completed the editorial work, an introduction by the author of the edition, a list of abbreviations with a list of sources and bibliographies used, as well as critical commentaries and 39 music tables with the dance concordances. The publication contains a Polish and an English version of the edition.
