Dr hab. Przemysław Strożek – is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy
of Sciences (from 2011, the habilitation title obtained in 2020) and an Associate Researcher and curator at the Archiv der Avantgarden, Dresden (ADA, from 2020). He was a Fulbright fellow at the University of Georgia (2012), a fellow at the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome (2015), recipient of a Korea Foundation fellowship in Seoul (2022), Japan Foundation (2024) and Kościuszko Foundation at the University of California Riverside (2025). He is the author of several dozen academic articles, and published extensively his research on the history of the 20 th century avant-garde, as well as on sport and contemporary art. Together with Andreas Kramer he has co-edited Sport and the European Avant-Garde (1900–1945) (Brill: 2021), and published a monograph Picturing the Workers’ Olympics and the Spartakiads. Modernist and Avant-Garde Engagement with Sport in Central Europe and the USSR (1920-1932) (Routledge: 2022). In 2020 he co-curated an exhibition Ahmed Cherkaoui in Warsaw. Polish-Moroccan Artistic Relations, 1955-1980 at the Zachęta National Gallery in Warsaw. The exhibition he curated at the Archiv der Avantgarden entitled Archive of Dreams. A Surrealist Impulse (2024) contributed to the winning prize for ADA of the Museum of the Year awarded by German AICA in 2025. Recently he has co-organized a conference Decolonizing Avant- Gardes. Repositioning Avant-Gardes in the East at the Archiv der Avantgarden in Dresden (2025). Together with Katarzyna Falęcka, he is a Co-Lead of an AHRC Funded Project:Artistic Exchanges in the Global Cold War: Eastern Bloc-Northern Africa, 1940s-1980s (February 2025 – January 2027).
