Danuta Kuźnicka, Associate Professor
A graduate of Polish philology at the University of Warsaw, she has worked at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 1976, where she defended her doctoral dissertation in 1985. She has been a member of the Institute’s Scientific Boards since 2002. From 1999 to 2008, she served as head of the Department of Theatre History and Theory. From 2008 to 2024 she served as deputy director of the Institute.
From 1991 to 2011 she was teaching at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw. She was also a member of the Academy’s Senate.
In 2008 she received her habilitation degree.
She has supervised three doctoral dissertations.
She conducts research on contemporary theater, with a particular focus on visual and physical theatre. She is the author of monographs, academic and popular articles, theater reviews, and biographical profiles. Her body of work includes numerous presentations and lectures at conferences in Poland and abroad.
